The Green Juice Hype

WEll.. it's here.. the green juice hype.. but is it just that - all talk ???


Health is important and we are all looking at ways to incorporate greens and veggies into our meals but quite lazy to do so. For me its even traumatic. Not being a veggie or green person but a true lover of meats its hard and painful to mix red, white, with ugh.. yukky greens.  The only thing I had no problem mixing with my reds and whites were the equally colored beverages that complimented my sombre meal.

In comes my friend with glowing skin, painfully happy attitude and carrying infectious amounts of energy for size and I wanted some of that. Half of that. Actually I was ready to take even a tid bit  of that.

But alas - it came at a price (for me). I had to down a green juice made with green leafy vegetables I didn't even know the names of.  She insisted it was good for me and my acne prone skin.  She double insisted that it would help me detox and promised me that my bowels would release gently and generously and that I would lose a ton of weight.  There was no need for any more convincing. She had me (not at hello but) at "Drink.."

She brings in this tall glass (insists it has to be glass or it tastes different apparently) filled to the brim with a thick dark green liquid (which reminded me of green ooze in the teenage mutant ninja turtles movies, and ofcoz quickly shut out those thoughts) and advised me to close my nose and swallow it knowing my serious aversion to this health farce.   And on this very important day, my other friend too was there to support me.  Watching me carefully while I looked, examined, smelled (and no i did not inhale it in) and then sat very nervously next to me saying "You can do it" Drink it... its good for you"*sigh *sigh *sigh... Deep breaths.. Uchai breathing to the rescue.

As it is very important to me that my skin glow and bowels move I followed the instructions and downed it in one gulp, which left me with just a tangy after taste which I quite didn't mind. SURPRISED!!!

I must admit the first step was the hardest.  Every other time she sent me my lunch in the form of a green juice (I was just too lazy to make my own) I felt like I was a million steps closer to becoming healthy.  I did notice the many health benefits it brought me and loved it.  I don't feel sleepy at lunch time anymore in office. I'm also more alert at work, active and above all feel so much lighter after my meal.  Now I am an addict and I want to share the benefits with all of you.
